Who is Mrs. Brown?

Judy is a former homeschool mother of three sons and retired mathematics teacher with over three decades of teaching experience at various levels. Seventeen years ago, she had a vision. Inspired by God and assisted by her son, Mosley, she set out to create a math curriculum consisting of guided notes, practice problems, daily free lesson and solution videos that integrates math with science, art, history, and the Word of God. She and her son completed the upper level curriculum in 2023. During that same time, she was named District #3 Ohio Teacher of the Year. Her son passed away a few months after helping finish the grades 7 through 12 books, but he would be thrilled to know they are now being used in ministries in Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, and Africa.

Math 1-3 and Math 7-12 are available for purchase. Mrs. Brown is working on Math 4-6 and will have those ready in August 2026.

How it Works

Math 1 through Math 6 include one book per 'grade.' Each section in every module has accompanying free daily videos that you can find under 'Videos' on our website. In each video, Mrs. Brown walks your children through the lesson and hands-on activity with her engaging teaching style and dynamic approach. All hands-on materials are homemade as part of the learning process.

Math 7 through Math 12 each consist of 2 books per 'grade.'

Below, using General Math (all of the 7 through 12 books are organized in the same way), we'll provide the roadmap for how to move through the curriculum:

  • General Math (Math 7) has a book titled 'Lesson Notes' and another book titled 'Practice Problems.'
  • General Math Lesson Notes consists of 8 modules that each have 13 sections. The lesson notes are examples where Mrs. Brown instructs your children through the math concepts. Learners take guided notes as Mrs. Brown teaches to solidify concepts.
  • General Math Practice Problems comprise 20 practice problems or games, experiments, and projects. Practice Problems apply the concepts learned in the Lesson Notes. In the corresponding Solutions videos for every Practice Problems book, Mrs. Brown takes learners step-by-step through different methods to get to a solution.

FAQ Section

Why do your books feature a minimalist, black-and-white design?

We intentionally design our math curriculum in black and white to prioritize focus and active participation. While modern textbooks often come with high-contrast colors and glossy graphics, our approach minimizes distractions and has children apply the colors themselves as part of the hands-on learning approach.

We provide a clean, minimalist layout to achieve three primary goals:

  • Reduce Cognitive Load: A black-and-white page allows the learner's brain to focus entirely on the logic and structure of the math problem without being overstimulated by decorative elements.
  • Encourage Active Learning: Our books facilitate hands-on learning. We encourage students to use colored pencils or markers to highlight specific patterns, color-code geometric shapes, or underline key terms. When learners color code items themselves, they are interacting with the math, which significantly improves retention and engagement.
  • Affordability & Community: Beyond the educational benefits, this design choice allows us to keep our curriculum affordable for homeschool families. By reducing printing costs, we are able to partner with a local printer right here in our community. We value the human connection and local craftsmanship that this partnership provides, and those savings are passed directly to you.

Are the daily videos actually free?

Yes, it's a big deal to us to let Mrs. Brown teach your children at the pace that works for you. It's legitimately like having your favorite teacher walking your children through the concepts.

What makes you different than other homeschool math curriculum?

Choosing a math curriculum is a critical decision for homeschool parents. While many programs focus solely on drills or abstract theory or eye-catching imagery, Math with Mrs. Brown is built on four unique pillars:

1. Expert Instruction with an Extremely Personal Touch
The heart of this program is Mrs. Brown’s genuine passion for student success. We believe that when a teacher loves their subject, the learner is more likely to love it. This isn’t a large corporate curriculum; it’s a curriculum designed by an educator who cares deeply about your child truly understanding math, not just getting through a course.

2. A Teacher With you Every Step of the Way
We are the only curriculum that provides comprehensive FREE daily videos for every section of every book. Mrs. Brown built an extensive video library to ensure your children receive high-level, qualified instruction. This takes the teaching pressure off parents while ensuring the learner has an award-winning educator to guide them.

3. Rigor Meets Active Discovery
We combine academic excellence with a hands-on approach. Instead of passive learning, we want learners actively involved, whether that’s through interactive video lessons, art projects, experiments, or using our minimalist book design to allow color-coding to visualize concepts. This method ensures that math is something they do and something they learn.

4. Biblical Integration is Organic & Consistent
We're the only math curriculum that seamlessly integrates the Bible where it makes sense with math. And we don't just have a short intro talking about God or the Bible. Our books are full of organic connection points between math and God.

Why don't you guys sell manipulatives?

Two main reasons:

1. Mrs. Brown homeschooled her own kids for years, and they used similar homemade manipulatives to many present in these books. And what could be better than the knowledge that Mrs. Brown is relying on the same approaches she followed with her own kids when she was in your exact shoes. Your children learn better when they build the manipulatives with our hands-on approach.

2. Affordability is a major factor as well. Yes, we could make more money selling manipulatives, but we want to make our material as accessible as possible.

Why isn't there a teacher/solutions manual?

Mrs. Brown created the free solutions videos instead because students learn best when multiple senses are engaged (e.g., watch, listen, and apply). Her son told her that "a manual can seem like a foreign language if an educator isn't there to break down the material." Thus, our videos are the solutions, and they include step-by-step instructions featuring Mrs. Brown's one-of-a-kind enthusiasm.

Do you have a placement test?

AS Mrs. Brown always likes to say: "Parents are the placement test!" We recommend going to our Videos section and looking through the different modules of each book. These can act as a table of contents, so you can see which book your children should start on.

Additionally, your children can always return to any former video from a previous book for a refresher because every video is always available and not gated (no codes required ever). This was the design on purpose! We want math to be accessible to everyone.
